It all started with the “chestfeeder” controversy. In February 2021, it was reported that Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals Trust had introduced terms such as “chestfeeding” and “birthing parent” into its professional lexicon. As always, such measures were intended to be “inclusive”, but ended up making a lot of women feel very excluded indeed.
