Christian Lagarde when she was Head of the IMF was found guilty of Criminal Negligence but avoided being sentenced - now she’s the President of the European Central Bank ! Do we see any patterns? Plus, Prof David Starkey compared the EU to the Catholic Church
I have to disagree (again). Le Pen broke the law. Not by accident, not once - she was convicted of a serious crime committed knowingly and many times. Just because someone is a leader in the polls, does not mean that they should get a free pass. She was convicted by an independent judge and can appeal. Giving her a free pass, just because she is a populist is very dangerous, even if she cries "foul". It is the same game the progressive left plays when it gives islamists in Europe a free pass, just because they cry "islamophobia" Treating someone different because of who they are is against democracy and rule of law. The same law applies to everyone who breaks it. Even to LePen.
Why should I read the judgement? We know what the judgement was. The charges were very serious. The courts judged the case, not parliament. That’s rule of law. Do you think she should’ve been let off because she was running for president now that would’ve been the political decision.
Conversely do you not think it all suspicious, not in the least, that she was leading the polls by a wide margin? Not at all? Not a tiny bit politically motivated? Nothing to see here?
You seem to have forgotten SOCIALIST presidential hopeful DSK , non? Look him up if you are not aware of him. He was on track to be president until his conviction. (Dominique Strauss-Kahn. )
Are you saying that rapists and embezzlers should be immune from the law when they are running for president? The courts convicted them, not parliament!
I have read Farage's biography where it describes the amount of embezzlement going on in the european parliament - some of which Farage enjoyed himself. As for the vibe, lawfare is indisputably the modus vivendi of government at present.
See my other comment - right of centre you funnelled EU money into your party, benefitted directly and if you're left of centre, you made an innocent mistake. You, Sir or Madam, are either naive or gaslighting us

It's very simple: if you are right of centre, you're guilty as charged. If you're left of centre, it was an honest mistake and you're not guilty
Don’t be ridiculous!
DSK? Hello?
Keep ignoring what people vote for then ban the monsters this creates. What could possibly go wrong? They never learn and we always pay the price.

Lagarde got a conviction for a technical error. Le Pen funnelled EU money into her party and benefited directly.
She did not benefit directly at all. Suggest you read the judgement.

So what - proves the point! Anyone a threat to the established elite will suddenly be fitted up for a crime to take them out of the game.

A great many people, wrongly of course, funnel money into their party and do not get the treatment Le Pen did.
Can you name some names, amounts dates and other details, or is it just the vibe?

Trouble is, the ballot box is not that representative anymore, when they manipulate who can or can't stand as candidate.
I think to not mention the politicization of SCOTUS is naive at best. And I don't think you are naive.
