I had the great pleasure of recording a series of lectures on Shakespeare’s tragedies for the Peterson Academy.
During the eight-hour course, I explore the historical context that shaped Shakespeare’s works and his unmatched talent for creating complex, timeless characters. The key texts covered in the course include Hamlet, King Lear, Macbeth, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Antony and Cleopatra, and Julius Caesar. I also discuss elements of Titus Andronicus and Coriolanus.
The course emphasises Shakespeare’s mastery of language, his deep insight into the human heart, and his ability to challenge audiences. In a time when Shakespeare is “problematised” as a “dead white male”, I focus on what really matters: the genius of a writer who has never been bettered.
Those who enroll at Peterson Academy will also get complete access to a range of fantastic courses by leading academics. It provides a university-level education at a fraction of the cost and without all the ideological nonsense. You can enrol here.
And here’s the trailer for my course!
Just read Coriolanus…what a towering masterpiece. Looking forward to this Andrew.
If you’re ever so inclined, I, and I suspect many others here, would enjoy enormously reading articles about Shakespeare here on your substack, too.
